     Wu Xiaolin

Dr. Xiaolin Wu received the B.S. degree from Wuhan University, China, in 1982, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Calgary, Canada, 1988. Right now, he is a Professor of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, McMasterUniversity and the NSERC-DALSA Industrial Research Chair in Digital Cinema.
His research interests include visual/multimedia computing and communications, JPEG standardization process. Prof. Wu have published numerous algorithms for computer graphics and image processing (image coding in particular), some of which are being used by practitioners, such as a fast optimal color quantizer, and a Context-based Adaptive Lossless Image Codec (CALIC) which was developed jointly with Nasir Memon as a candidate algorithm for the new JPEG lossless standard. CALIC(executable) is widely used as a benchmark in performance evaluation of lossless image codecs. ....Related link.....
