COURSES

Digital Image Processing, Spring semester each year
Video Processing and Analysis, Spring 2005 and 2006

Digital Image Processing

In this course, we will deal with fundamental aspects of image representation, processing, enhancement, restoration, segmentation and compression. As a one semester course for seniors, we focus on aspects of image processing in which both inputs and outputs of these processes are images. Because most students are major in electronic engineering, especially in signal and information processing, we also cover some of the basic aspects of image segmentation and compression.

As a bilingual teaching experiment, English is the major classroom language. The text book and all lecture materials are in English. The students' presentations and reports are expected to be in English, too.

Digital Video Processing and Analysis
This course is intended as a one-semester graduate-level course on video processing. It covers the fundamental theory and techniques for digital video processing and some advanced contents about video analysis. Upon completion, the students are expected to be equipped with an in-depth understanding of the fundamental concepts, able to follow the growing literature describing new research results in a short time, and well-prepared to tackle research problems in the video processing and analysis field.
